Oktawia Pączkowska: do you need any experimental music? (2021)
for video and sound

Jessie Marino: and I’ll be there with you (2021)
for 4 performers and electronics

The text eliminates nearly all the vowels from Donald Trump's speech which directly preceded a mob attacking the Capital Building of the United States Government on January 6th 2021.
I've made a few of these pieces now - all of them attempts to further exaggerate the linguistic absurdity of the blatant lies and manipulation that spew from his gob.
The first piece came after the election of 2016.
Another after the State of the Union address in 2018.
and a third after the January 6th insurgency.
I don't want to write these pieces anymore.
alas.
Sofus Preisel: Suite for Imagined Sounds and Spaces (2025)
for large ensemble and powerpoint presentation, premiere
”Suite for Imagined Sounds and Spaces” was originally written for Ensemble Esbjerg as part of a workshop. Unfortunately, due to the piece's political lens, the ensemble had legitimate issues with performing the piece. It was not possible to find a solution both parties could agree on.

CHORALE_10 is a live sonic investigation into tinnitus tones by artist S McEvoy. Drawing on a personal archive of tinnitus experiences, the performance reconstructs each subjective tone in collaboration with participants, opening a space where individual perception converges with collective histories. Through a layered live performance of these tones, CHORALE_10 highlights how personal realities of hearing are shaped by wider forces and invites reflection on sound as both memory and marker of trauma. This performance forms part of CHORALE_x, an ongoing series presented in multichannel, ambisonic, and live formats at venues including Café OTO, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Mayhem, and Centrale Fies.

Rob Durnin (b. 1997) is a composer, sound artist and performer from the UK. Living and working in Denmark, Rob's output spans from chamber music, to multidisciplinary works, installations, performance art and ambisonic compositions. In his practice, he often fixates on the characteristics and architectures of technologies, as well as the manner of our interactions with them. He also investigates the role of its intervention in the creative process and often works within the programming language LISP.
Oktawia Pączkowska (b. 1996) is a composer and sound artist based in Poland. She is the winner of multiple competitions, such as Diaphonia Edizioni 2017 Call for Scores and the 61st Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers. Her work has been performed extensively internationally.Jessie Marino is a Berlin-based composer, performer, and media artist. Her compositions and solo performances abstract ideas drawn from all stripes of popular culture and political discourse, girded by a definitively humanistic sensibility rife with equal doses of wit and pathos. Marino’s pieces score out sound, video, story, lighting, and staging, treating each of these elements as expandable musical materials. She transcends the conventional materials of composition to help audiences locate music in the most commonplace activities and relations.

Sofus Preisel (b. 1994), composer, pianist and performer. In my work, I try to reconcile the sensuous ambiguity of art with the unwavering unambiguity of activism. My work consists of sound that finds its aesthetic in creating change. In this endeavour, I often work conceptually.

I am a trained classical pianist from the Royal Academy of Music and a graduate in Musicology from the University of Copenhagen. Today I study classical composition at the Royal Academy of Music.
S McEvoy (b. 1987, IE/DK, they) is an artist who works with sound, video, sculpture, writing and performance. They interrogate categories such as sensation, affect and embodiment, and investigate how they intersect with and co-constitute ongoing processes of power relations. With a practice rooted in the intuitive exploration of sonic materiality and writing as artistic research, they trace sound manifested as an unfolding formation, at once a sensory field, cultural construction, artistic medium and process in its own right.

Cornelia Karlsson: Spiderwebs (2022)
for 3 performers and electronics

Spiderwebs is an audiovisual work for three performers who build webs out of wire. Each performer uses a dynamic microphone to transmit the sounds of steel through stereo speakers. The idea came during the pandemic, when I found comfort in videos of people constructing everything from houses to speakers. There’s something soothing about silence interrupted by purposeful sound, and watching something emerge from nothing.

Emil Johansson: Love is all you need (2025)
for 2 performers and electronics

Love is all you need is inspired by how all men of power throughout history from the local mayors, to the continent wide dictators have used the word love to further manipulate people for means of power. The music travels in a landscape consisting of 70s garage punk and 50s Doo wop.

Anton Lindström: STICKFIGHTING (2025)
for 4 fighters and announcer (premiere)

Stickfighting takes the form of a 'fighting with sticks' 1-on-1, single elimination tournament, with a losers bracket.

Visitations is a composition for performance of sound, text and movement, structured as a journey to Ungdomsøen, a former military fortress close to Copenhagen. A small booklet, The Sympathetic Metabolism of an Island, guides visitors through stages of distance, longing, reaching, absorbing, and letting go as they find themselves positioned in different locations on the island. Visitations explores island as figuration and geological figure, while reflecting upon how we parse the world into barriers and borders, both actual and metaphorical.
Visitations was premiered at Klang - Copenhagen Experimental Music Festival 2025.

Visitations is a new sono-dramatic work created by Copenhagen-based artist Jenny Gräf Sheppard for K!ART. Several exchanges and collaborations with performers and artists have been a crucial aspect of the creative process leading to the realization of the work. This includes choreographer Dorte Bjerre Jensen, costume designer Elisabeth Kiss, and writer Stephanie Barber, who contributed with the textual art-book, or visitor’s guide, which plays a significant role in the piece. For Visitations, K!ART has significantly expanded its standard cast of performers to include musicians Stephen McEvoy and MV Carbon and movers Yi Ten Lai, Freja Kreutzfeldt and Sebastian Kahr Rasmussen.

Evening length music-theatre set in an absurd call centre. At the data collection agency ‘Re-sounding Success’, call centre workers equipped with instruments sit behind their computer screens, waiting (played by Andreas Borregaard and Anna Sakham Jalving). While they wait to be transferred, the hold-music of each company on their call-list is played by a live house band that can only be glimpsed as silhouettes behind an illuminated screen. (hold-music trio: Kirstine Elise Pedersen, Hsiao Tung Yuan and Joss Smith). Operating at the boundaries of new music, experimental theatre involving audience participation, and interactive installation art, the project’s central themes land on the unsettling musicality buried in repetitive labour, cold-calling and workplace technology; the psychological effects of hold-music; and existential questions surrounding time, purpose and agency.

“re-” is based on K!ART’s individual and collective qualities, personalities, histories and geographies. Olga Szymula works with the idea of enactment and re-enactment. Actions on stage echo in the video and vice-versa. Various interpretations of memories and actions are re-enacted live in front of the audience. Those re-enactments are forms of re-interpretations, different possible imagined outcomes that can play out.
Szymula frames the live and projected performers in distinct settings and costumes. Freed from the burden of their histories, they diegetically travel back in time to the beginning and origins of their passion and curiosity. "re-" explores re-visiting a playfulness and re-connecting to the sources of initial passion for music, a joyful celebration of togetherness and individuality.

Influenced by Viktor Shklovsky’s notion of de-familiarisation, ctrl+Y aims to twist common aspects of everyday life, making them strange and uncanny to refresh and challenge our perspectives on the familiar.

A ubiquitous part of our mediated daily lives, the QWERTY keyboard sits at the centre of the work. The keyboard’s inherent, expressive musical potential is unveiled through the amplification and filtering of key presses, the translation of its data stream into frequency information, fed to synthesisers, and its recasting as a sampler instrument that triggers recordings of personal interviews with the performers, as well as their instrumental playing. ctrl+Y explores repetition involved in the everyday activities of the ensemble, and repetition as a vehicle to build cognitive and motoric fluency over time. The fluency here pertains to learning and speaking a foreign language, playing their instruments, and communicating by typing at a computer keyboard. The assimilation of instrumental practice with common, repetitive tasks such as admin-driven typing hints at the inseparability of music from everyday experience.

Sketchbook, a space for play and playfulness. This evening-length event sees the performers playing games, playing videos, playing recordings, playing to win, playing both real and fictional characters, and even, perhaps, playing instruments.

Skrrt, Skrrt (2020)

Marcela Lucatelli [composition, voice]
Mikkel Schou [el.guitar, synth]
Iiris Tötterström [cello]
Hsiao-Tung Yuan [percussion]
Rob Durnin [electronics]

Meticulous pleasures meet a monumental elegy of bodily and instrumental horror, stripped by an off-beat attitude and unsettling sounds. From noise to trap, howling, world instruments, fragmentary stories and obscure music reinterpreted, Lucatelli makes use of musical processes governed by criteria of communicability from one reality to another. Together with K!ART, they have let themselves become submerged under a common ground between historically repressed cultures and the stigmatisation of bodily sonic expressions. Like the sound that is produced when a driving car makes a hard turn.
